Full Moon in Aries – October 8, 2014, 6:51 am EDT

The energies are building toward an electric, vital, intense Full Moon in Aries this Wednesday. This Full Moon will be joined by “wildcard” Uranus in Aries and both will be opposite the Sun in Libra.

All full Moons have the Sun and Moon in opposition – here the opposition is between Aries Moon and Libra Sun. Aries represents the expression of leadership that takes the initiative and jumps into unilateral action. Libra is symbolized by the scales of justice – finding balance and harmony and working together. Libra brings the energy of fairness, and mediation into a dispute, for example, so all sides feel heard and ok with the ultimate conclusion. It may be that taking initiative (Aries) is needed to begin deliberation (Libra) and the energy stimulates people to come to consensus.

There will also be a creative Grand Trine in Fire with the Moon and Uranus in impulsive Aries, Mars in enthusiastic Sagittarius and Jupiter in proud Leo! Lots and lots of fire energy – it can get quite over-stimulating! There can be rushes of creative energies that are exciting and original. To add more intensity – The Moon and Uranus will be making a stressful square with Pluto in Capricorn!! We’ll be bursting with impatience to break free of limitations and declare our independence and authenticity – all over the world. It’s important to do our best to ground this energy and stay centred – letting these ripples of peace spread out and have a calming effect on ourselves and those around us.

Full Lunar Eclipse

This Moon is called a “Blood Moon” as it turns quite red before a full eclipse. Ancient people’s believed it was a negative omen. This Moon will go through a full eclipse as the Earth will be positioned between the Sun and the Moon. Eclipses can bring sudden changes, reveal what has been hidden and break through to new insights and realizations. The end results can be surprising and positive – if we are able to let go and to release that which no longer serves us. This can mean letting go of toxic relationships, ridding ourselves of too much stuff, simplifying our lives.

Super Full Moon in Pisces – September 8, 2014, 9:38 pm EDT

Check out the 3 minute video on Super Moons at this NASA site.

September’s SUPER Full Moon orbits closest to the Earth (perigree) and is BIG and Bright and is the last Super Moon of this year. Its energies pull on the tides and on our emotions. This is especially true as Chiron, next to this Piscean Moon, heightens our emotional sensitivities.

Chiron is a minor planetary body, discovered in 1977. It orbits between the material world (Saturn) and the Metaphysical world (Uranus). Chiron, the “wounded healer,” enables us to experience our wounding and facilitate our healing. Chiron” is a link between body and spirit. Today’s Full Moon energies can enhance our spiritual and emotional receptivity. It’s important to be protective, and treat ourselves with compassion. If memories come up around old wounds – let them flow and release them.

For some, this cycle can feel very intense and upsetting. Astrologer, Emily Trinkaus advises us to “unplug from the energy of collective trauma and reconnect with the ultimate level of reality, where everything truly is in Divine Order (despite apparent evidence to the contrary).” It’s a time for healing and for tuning into that energy that connects with our higher aspirations.

Saturn will be in harmony with the Full Moon and Chiron, adding its strength and grounding to our enhanced sensitivities. Saturn’s influence can stabilize us. I encourage everyone to turn off any news of violence and mayhem – on computers, tv’s, etc. during this Full Moon (and whenever possible). We have a powerful and rare opportunity to “catch up with ourselves”. Let’s use this time to reflect on our higher values – and “infill” with calm. This positive energy will ripple out and contribute peacefulness into our environment.

New Moon in Virgo, August 25, 2014, 10:13 am EDT

At NEW MOON, a new cycle begins and sets the tone for the lunar month. Virgo is the sign of healing, mental discernment and practical action. When the Sun and Moon are in Virgo – it’s an opportune time to take steps to improve our health – mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. Cleaning up our diet is a good first step – reducing (not cutting out completely) our intakes of excess sugar, salt and fat will help generate more physical energy and mental clarity.

Mercury, Planet of communication is the ruler of Virgo. Virgo’s strength is expressed by creating order out of chaos – for example – setting up new information systems, cleaning out cupboards, shelves, closets. It’s important to set priorities on how to use our time. Sometimes we can get caught up in taking care of details and neglect more important or urgent matters. Keeping a broader perspective is important – and helps us stay in balance.

New Moons occurs when the Sun and Moon are at the same degree in the same Sign. This Sun/Moon combination in Virgo is occurring opposite Neptune which is traveling through Pisces. Neptune is the Planet of visioning, dreaming, idealizing – and on a practical level – can bring illusion and delusion into a situation. This opposition can bring confusion – about what we perceive (or miss-perceive) about what is happening with our partners, families, communities and the world.

What steps can we take to stay grounded? This is where self-care comes in. By monitoring our energy, getting enough rest, eating simply and taking time to be present to ourselves and remembering to breath – we can relax our over-active mental activity and ground our energy. Mercury rules the lungs – and reminds us that we need plenty of oxygen to support our mental, physical and emotional needs. When I’ve taken the time to stop and observe my breathing, I’ve noticed that when I’ve been too distracted, I’ve had a pattern of holding my breath. Noticing this and breathing more consciously – I’ve generated much more energy.

Meanwhile Saturn and Mars are at the same degree of Scorpio and will start separating on Wednesday. This energy began to build a week ago. These effects will dissipate by the end of this month. This conjuction can be very frustrating – we can feel like we’re moving through glue! Saturn says stop and have patience. Mars wants to take action and has very little patience. Mars also brings courage and the ability to take initiative. Saturn brings wisdom and a sense of responsibility. Acting consciously – using the best of both planetary energies – can be very productive for moving plans and projects forward.

At the same time – with both Planets in Scorpio – this combination can bring up old (or current) emotional issues. Scorpio is introspective and tends to suppress feelings and keep things private. The challenge here is to allow emotions to bubble up and be acknowledged. Sharing this experience with a trusted partner, friend, family member – can help clarify what’s going on. Accepting and forgiving ourselves and others will ease the inner turmoil.

During this New Moon, on the 25th, Venus in Leo will be making a stressful angle to the Mars/Saturn combination. Relationships can feel tense. It’s a very short transit and will ease up by the 27th.

In Summary: It’s important to take good care of ourselves right now – and handle the stressful energies with awareness and compassion – for ourselves and others. We’re in times of upheaval and the way to navigate through is to stay grounded, alert and be a calming presence – creating waves of peace that will ripple out and make a difference – whether we know it or not.

Full Moon in Aquarius – August 10, 2014 1:09 pm EDT

Super Full MOON in Aquarius – August 10, 2014, 1:09 pm EDT [Check out the 3 minute video on Super Moons at this NASA site.]

August’s SUPER Full Moon orbits closest to the Earth (perigree) and is BIG and Bright. Its energies pull on the tides and on our emotions and can have powerful effects on us.

During each Full Moon, the Sun is exactly opposite the Moon. With Leo Sun opposing the Aquarian Moon, there can be tensions between coming from the heart and coming from the head; concern with the individual rather than the collective; concern with having fun rather than being serious.

Aquarius is an air sign emphasizing ideas, imagination and visioning. Leo is a fire sign ruling the heart – emphasizing self-expression, and a desire to lead – sometimes coming from an inflated go. Leos can also be generous and playful. Aquarians travel in mental spaces – idealizing what is possible for us to create for a better world and many times not concerned enough with the individual right in front of them!

Obviously we all have hearts and minds and this is a reminder to pay attention to both. It’s important to balance our own needs with the needs of others and to use Leo’s passion to further our Aquarian ideals for a better world.

Saturn: During this Full Moon – Saturn will be making angles of tension (squares) with both the Aquarian Moon and Leo Sun. Saturn is our great teacher – requiring, for example, that Aquarian dreams be realized by practical down-to–earth plans and actions. Saturn can deflate egos and bring a touch of genuine humility to Leos’ need for admiration – reminding them to generously share their light with others and leave room for others to shine, too!

Saturn’s squares to Sun and Moon can bring up areas of fear and insecurities: Am I loveable? Am I smart enough? Can I succeed? Are my dreams realistic?

It’s important to take advantage of this cycle and stay open. Saturn reminds us to be real and grounded and appreciate where we are and who we are. We’re reminded to be grateful – gratitude is the great healer. Questions arise – to be replaced with larger questions – as we integrate what we’re learning.

Mercury: Meanwhile Mercury joins the Sun in Leo and the pair make a positive, stimulating angle with Uranus in fiery Aries. Ingenuity, breakthroughs, clarity – all are present. This is a very exciting time to expand our consciousness and come up with new solutions to previously unsolvable challenges. Mercury will continue moving through Leo until August 16th when it enters Virgo. Dealing with nitty gritty details is the hallmark of Mercury in Virgo and much can be accomplished with clarifying agreements, for example.

We’re in the energy field of the biggest and brightest Full Moon of this year. Make sure to go out tonight and enjoy the awesome sight. There will also be perseid meteor showers that will peak near the Full Moon! Let’s celebrate our many blessings and find ways to give back to those near and far.

Full Moon in Capricorn – July 12, 2014 7:25 am EDT

“July’s Capricorn full Moon falls on July 12 and it is the first of three super moons – which means that the Moon is at its closest approach to Earth – it will be at perigee.” Astrologer Lynda Hill.

Check out the 3 minute video on Super Moons at this NASA site.

During the Full Moon in Capricorn (with Sun in Cancer – opposite the Moon) – dealing with priorities at work and home come to the forefront. Full Moons can bring up opposing issues and concerns. When the Moon is in Capricorn – career takes centre stage – we want to focus on our ambitions and desire for accomplishing goals that are practical and measurable. Meanwhile, the Sun in Cancer is calling us home. Balancing demands of work and home is key here.

The Moon will be connecting with Pluto in Capricorn several hours before it’s full. Moon-Pluto combination in stoic Capricorn can bring up hidden emotional issues that we’d rather not face and that we’d prefer to keep hidden. At the same time, passionate, unpredictable Uranus in Aries – makes tense angles with the Sun, Moon and Pluto. We may surprise ourselves and those around us – with unexpected emotional outbursts. Under Uranus’ influence –there an urge to break free and vent our frustrations at feeling constrained. We yearn to express our uniqueness and be unhindered by old conservative limitations.

The energies of Pluto and Uranus in conflict have been occurring on and off since 2011 – the cycle will be complete in Spring 2015. This is evident in the escalating confrontations in the Middle East and elsewhere. What’s occurring is the collapse of systems and institutions that have weak economic, environmental and political foundations. Uranus brings in a cycle of breakdowns and breakthroughs. This is a time to move forward with creativity and ingenuity as we address our major systemic challenges.

Personally – it’s time to clear out old and dysfunctional habits and cultivate an attitude open to innovation. These are intense times – watch that you don’t get carried away. Stay grounded. Be kind and compassionate. We need that right now.

Meanwhile – Mercury is moving through bright social Gemini until July 14th and then enters emotional Cancer for the rest of July. Our mission – if you will – is to remember that we have the choice to react emotionally to differing points of view – or to listen and consider another’s opinions – even if we don’t agree with them. Ask yourself – is it better to be loving or is it better to be “right?” Mercury in Cancer is excellent for story-telling, empathic sharing and community building.

Venus moves through social Gemini until July 19 and then moves into home-loving Cancer until August 20. The emphasis is on seeking security and being with family and friends. It’s a time to nurture and be nurtured.

In Summary: These are tumultuous times. The energies of “opposing” priorities, needs and values can feel confusing and frustrating. Give yourself a few moments each day to stop and breathe. Release. This will keep you balanced and grounded. Focus on the “big” picture. Take a moment and ask yourself what really matters? Let go of the rest.

New Moon in Cancer – Friday, June 27

New Moon in Cancer, June 27, 2014, 3:09 am EDT

At NEW MOON, a new cycle begins and sets the tone for the lunar month.

When the Sun and Moon are in Cancer – home, family, comfort and security are in the spotlight. It’s important to slow down and “catch up” with ourselves. During this New Moon, the Cancer Sun and Moon are in harmony with Neptune – intuition is open and it’s a good time to tune into our inner wisdom. Using creative means of expression – through meditation, writing, painting, listening to inspiring music and so on – opens us up to deeper perceptions.

The Moon moves quickly and will soon be out of Neptune’s influence. The Sun will be in harmony with Neptune until July 2. It’s timely to use this refined energy and make our lives more meaningful in personal ways, with our friends and families- and in taking action to better our world in whichever ways work for us.

Until July 7 – the Cancer SUN will be opposite PLUTO in Capricorn. This can signify that we may too easily get emotionally involved in power struggles. Now is not the time to insist on being “right.” [Actually that’s true for any time!] With Pluto opposite the Sun – confrontations can spring up easily. MARS opposes volatile URANUS until July 6 – which only kindles the flames. With Mars (taking individual initiative) in the sign of Libra (cooperation with others) – impatience can lead to actions we may later regret. Uranus is in Aries – fire sign ruler of Mars. These oppositional energies are over-stimulating and frustrations can escalate.

What to do? Gratitude is a powerful antidote to anger and righteousness. We have a choice on how to handle the “competing” energies. We can be in touch with the harmony between the Sun and Moon with Neptune and focus on our inner wisdom and intuitive knowing. Or we can be swept up in the confrontational energies of the Sun opposite Pluto and Mars opposite Uranus. It’s important to tune in to our higher aspirations and considerations – and follow our inner compass. Sometimes it’s hard to appreciate that oppositions are projections – and we can become the “wrathful” ones – full of indignation. Of course there’s much injustice and suffering in the world – so it’s important to address social, environmental, political and other issues – while being the peace we want to create in the world.

Mercury is completing its retrograde cycle at the end of this month and will begin moving forward July 1. It’s still a good time for reviewing documents, reorganizing our thoughts and getting ready for the forward momentum coming soon.

Venus is moving through social Gemini until July 19. It’s a good time to gather with friends and families and enjoy the summer (in the Northern Hemisphere). There can be some disappointments in relationships as Neptune squares Venus until July 2. We may have great hopes for those we care about – and need to learn to accept people as they are – rather than having expectations that can’t and won’t be met.

Chiron the “wounded healer” is moving through the water sign of Pisces until February 2019. We are exposing and experiencing our wounded-ness globally through our very contaminated rivers, lakes and oceans. And – this trauma is being played out everywhere with increasing suffering in the world – of people, animals and our ailing Planet. We need to address and heal our wounds as well as do whatever it takes to help others.

In summary – we’re beginning this New Moon cycle with emotional vulnerability. It’s time to slow down and be quiet and listen to our intuitive wisdom – we all have it. There’s so much volatility right now that it’s important for us to come from a stable place within ourselves. Being calm and loving adds to the stabilization of our immediate environment. Running around and being reactive will add to the chaos! We do have the power to choose – moment by moment.

The POWER and VALUE of ASTROLOGY
After many years of being a professional Astrologer, I’m still constantly amazed at how helpful it is to become familiar with our birth charts. Our charts show the patterns we came in with at birth. What lessons are we here to learn? How can we understand our “purpose” in being here? How can we make the most of this sacred opportunity?

Full Moon in Sagittarius – June 13, 2014 12:11 am EDT

During the Full Moon in Sagittarius (with Sun opposite Moon in Gemini) – there’s more space to be optimistic. Sagittarius is symbolized by the Archer sending an arrow up into the air – and where it lands is a mystery. The arrow – depending on our intention – can be an arrow of high aspiration – bringing positive energy wherever it lands. Jupiter, ruler of Sagittarius, brings the energy of expansion – enlarging our views. It’s important to let go of the daily details and concerns and focus on the bigger picture and possibilities for ourselves, our families, and society. Let’s focus on what’s working. Imagine we’re 500 feet up in the air. What can we see that’s important enough to get our attention? Put aside fretting about the little things – will they matter in 10 years, 10 months…10 days??

This lunar cycle began with the New Moon (and Sun) in Gemini on May 28. The energy has been building to culminate in this Full Moon in Sagittarius. What are the major learnings to glean from the new ideas and mental stimulation that launched this lunar cycle? It’s time to consciously include the spiritual energy of Sagittarius. How do we feel about our values – are we living in integrity? Can we shift from pettiness to important, life-affirming concerns and make choices for the highest good of all? Can we set an intention to be considerate of others and bring finer energies into being? This Sagittarian Moon brings a certain kind of intensity that can be used to energize our hopes and dreams for the good – and complete this full lunar cycle with positive plans and actions.

MERCURY, Planet of communication, is moving retrograde until July 1. From now until July 1 it’s good practice to back up files, double check information and if possible, delay signing agreements and contracts until early July.

During the first two weeks in July – Mercury moves forward through Gemini. This is a good time for communication, sharing new ideas, travelling, making plans.

During the last two weeks in July, Mercury will be moving forward in Cancer. With Mercury in the emotional sign of Cancer – let’s be alert that we may be taking things more personally than usual – and being more reactive to perceived slights. Let’s ask ourselves – is it better to be loving or is it better to be “right?” That can make a huge difference in the quality of our relationships and foster harmony rather than discord.

Cancer is the sign of nurturing, family and home. With Mercury in Cancer let’s spend more time with our families and friends. It’s a good time to communicate with relatives and share family stories and pictures. Interviewing family elders and creating records for younger family members can bring much pleasure to all.

VENUS moves through earthy Taurus until June 24. This is a good time to enjoy the physical pleasures – cooking, eating, digging in the garden, enjoying treatments like aroma therapy, massages – that activate the senses. Be aware that for a few days (June 12-15) Venus is opposite Saturn in Scorpio – there may be tensions in close relationships. It’s important to be genuine with one another and share what really matters to us – and be open explore our relationships with sincerity and depth.

From June 25 – July 18 Venus will move through Gemini and stimulate ideas, creative expression in speaking and writing. Travelling and enjoying nature’s scenic wonders is timely.

MARS (independent action) is still moving through Libra (sign of partnerships and cooperation). We may feel impatient and restless and want to move unilaterally – without taking other into account. Consensus takes time and slows things down. Patience is very helpful right now. Mars is making an angle of tension with Pluto until June 20 – this can be disruptive. Best to stop and take a few deep breathes before challenging others or responding to others challenging us!

In Summary: This is a WATERY time! Until the end of June – three planets – Mercury, Saturn and Neptune are moving retrograde through the 3 water (emotional) signs – Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces. Our emotional responses/reactions are helping us notice where we need to let go and forgive and release. A fourth body, Chiron, the “wounded healer” is also moving forward through watery Pisces. This time is one for exploring and healing old wounds and actively creating new, more positive outcomes for our future.

After many years of being a professional Astrologer, I’m still constantly amazed at how truly helpful it is to become familiar with our birth charts. New Moon in Gemini – Wednesday, May 28, 2014. Spring special offerings until May 31

New Moon in Gemini, May 28, 2014, 2:40 pm EDT

When the Sun and Moon are in Gemini – at New Moon – ideas can be flying around – communication is the theme. Except… During this New Moon, Neptune will be squaring the Sun and Moon – weakening their energies and bringing in possible confusion. This is a brief transit as the Moon will move out of Neptune’s range by Thursday. Emotions that have been murky will clear up.

The Sun will be out of Neptune’s range by the end of May. You may find yourself more tired than usual for the next few days. With Neptune squaring the Sun – be as straightforward as possible in your communications and clear up any misunderstandings as they arise. Check with others and make sure you’re all on the same page.

Mercury, planet of communication, will be moving into the emotional sign of Cancer May 30, and will move retrograde from June 7 – July 1. It will go back into clever Gemini until July 14 and then we be back in Cancer until August 16. With Mercury in Cancer, it’s a time when emotions can cloud our reason. June will be a time to back up our files, check and double check travel arrangements and so on. It’s important to take advantage of the positive aspects of Mercury Retrograde. It’s a good time to slow down and review important material before moving forward. During this cycle, being more contemplative can reap major insights.

Venus will be moving through the earth sign of Taurus from May 30 – June 24. What a good time to spend in our gardens, digging in the earth and planting seeds to harvest later on. It’s also a time to enjoy our sensual pleasures – good food, music, creative arts, comfortable surroundings, massages….

The Planet Mars (independent action) is gathering speed and moving forward in the sign of Libra (relationships) – until July 27. The challenge here is to learn to include others in our plans and learn how to negotiate so everyone wins. It’s important to have the patience to really listen to our partners and take their wants and needs into consideration. This is the time to take the initiative to strengthen our relationships and take appropriate steps toward healing any rifts and coming out stronger and healthier.

In summary – we’re beginning this New Moon cycle with complex patterns. New ideas will be popping up with Gemini Sun/Moon. It’ll be timely to slow down and enjoy sensual pleasures. It’ll be important to be clear in our communications and have the patience to strengthen our relationships. During this Moon cycle we’ll experience Summer Solstice on June 21 – highlighting the time of maximum daylight in the Northern Hemisphere.

New Moon in Taurus – Tuesday, April 29, 2014 and Special Spring Offerings

Ring of Fire

Annular (Ring of Fire) Solar Eclipse – Tuesday, April 29, 2014.

“Tonight’s Solar Eclipse is a super-potent New Moon, planting a seed for a new beginning that will develop over the next six months and even the next nineteen years.” Astrologer Emily Trinkaus

New Moon in Taurus, April 29, 2014, 2:14 am EDT
Given the intensity we’ve been experiencing these past 10 days (Grand Cross configuration) – the New Moon in Taurus offers welcome relief. Taurus is our most earthy of earth signs and helps us stay grounded. Mercury in Taurus joins the Sun and Moon – emphasizing that now’s the time to take practical steps to “put our house in order” – at home, at work, with family and friends.

The Sun and Moon and Mercury in Taurus are in harmony with Jupiter in Cancer and Chiron in Pisces – as earth signs harmonize with water signs. These positive relationships make it easier to focus on hearth and home (Jupiter in Cancer) – taking the time to nurture ourselves and others. Chiron in Pisces brings in spiritual energies – making this a good time to focus on what’s really important in our lives and make time for reflection or meditation or any practice that puts us in touch with our inner being.

Another positive aspect during this time is that the Sun, Moon and Mercury are in harmony with Pluto in Capricorn. This brings us strength and courage to take practical steps to move our priorities and plans forward. It’s a good time for mental focus and research (Mercury in harmony with Pluto). With Mars still moving retrograde until May 20 – there may be delays in putting our plans into action. More research may be required and other elements put into place first.

New Moons bring the energy of new beginnings – and these Planets in Water and Earth elements make this a softer more nurturing time. Let’s focus on our homes and families and friends and slow down to “catch up with ourselves” after a very intense few weeks. The Earth is our greater home that sustains us – it’s vital that we support her health for the benefit of all living beings.

Full Moon in Libra – Tuesday, April 15, 2014 – 3:42 am EDT

COSMIC KNOW-HOW: ASTROLOGY for EVERYONE – Tune In Wednesday, April 23, 2014 for the GRAND CROSS: Part II (see below)

FULL MOON in LIBRA (SUN in ARIES) – APRIL 15, 2014: 3:42 am EDT
Our Astrological New Year began on March 30 – with strong Aries energies – setting the tone for the build-up of intensity during the rest of April. This Full MOON is in the sign Libra emphasising the need for partnering/cooperating with others. The SUN (Opposite the Full MOON) is in the sign of Aries – indicating more concern with self-interest and taking action – rather than waiting for agreements.

Total ECLIPSE of the MOON – April 14.
Adding to this – at the time of Full Moon, we will have a Powerful Full Moon Eclipse (some people call it the “Blood Moon”). When the Moon is eclipsed – emotional responses, personal values, and priorities take a back seat to practicalities and actions in the world. This can be very very frustrating. Just prior to this Eclipse, the Moon will be next to Mars in Libra, adding more emotional fuel to the Grand Cross. So, buckle up! We’re in for quite a ride. Getting “carried away” by negative emotions will just make things worse. It’s important to take several times each day (5 minutes will do) to slow down, stay present and grounded. Remember – in this atmosphere – we’re all subject to emotional tensions that may erupt for no particular reason. Kindness to ourselves and other goes a long way.

The GRAND CROSS
The rare Grand Cross occurring exactly on April 21, is in Cardinal (action) signs. In this configuration, Mars in Libra will be opposite Uranus in Aries – setting the stage for maximizing tension between what “I” want and what “we” can agree to. This tension can result in impatience and jumping into action without consultation. The other polarity pair in the Grand Cross is Pluto in Capricorn opposite Jupiter in Cancer. Pluto in Capricorn, signifies the breakdown of systems that have weak foundations, eg, political, economic and other important social systems. Personally – Pluto brings our attention to our negative patterns and assumptions. Jupiter in Cancer magnifies all these energies and brings in issues regarding safety and security. We are already well within this field and it can feel quite unsettling. We will be experiencing the effects of this Grand Cross for weeks afterward as the Planets separate.

Pay special attention to times when your buttons will get pushed – catch yourself and shift your energy. Stay alert and be quick to apologize. Ask yourself – is it better to be right or is it better to be loving?

Partial ECLIPSE of the SUN – April 29
On April 29, when the Sun is eclipsed – emotions can reign and reason takes a back seat. This can also be very frustrating! Obviously, the last two weeks in April can be major turning points for nations as well as communities and individuals. What to do? First, let’s be aware that everyone may be feeling reactive and “touchy.” It’s best to keep coming back to centre, staying grounded and realizing that we’re all in this together. If we get angry – best to step back and decelerate our reactivity. This is a time of testing our ability to be compassionate and patient with ourselves and our families, colleagues and communities.

The Amazing Grand Cross energies foster creativity, originality and “thinking outside of the box.” On individual and collective levels, creative energies surge forward – brilliant solutions may come forth in technology, the arts and sciences. With Mercury in Aries until April 24, our mental processes quicken – again it’s important to think before we speak – especially if we’re feeling very emotional.

VENUS in PISCES
Meanwhile, VENUS, Planet of creativity and loving relationship – is floating through the sign of Pisces until May 2014. She glides past Neptune from April 12 – 14 – bringing gentleness, appreciation of beauty and music – connecting us with our spiritual natures. Venus then moves close to Chiron from April 16-21. Chiron is an asteroid orbiting between Saturn (material world) and Uranus (metaphysical world). Through Chiron’s presence, we experience our connectivity between spirit and body and between ourselves and the Earth. This much subtler and more mellow energy combination may not have the intensity of the Grand Cross. Still – these refined and loving energies are available to us when we check inside, take a few deep breaths and focus on gratitude.

Understanding Our Life Patterns: The power and value of astrology
Understanding our birth charts helps to clarify the nature of our struggles and the nature of our gifts . What are our strengths and where do we get stuck? What are the timings for each planetary cycle? Deeper self-knowledge is vital for developing acceptance and compassion for ourselves and others. Astrology helps us remember that the challenges we face are cyclical – and it highlights opportunities where we can learn and grow. It’s full of practical, useful knowledge that we can immediately apply to our lives.
