FULL MOON in GEMINI – Tuesday, December 17, 2013

Today, the Full Moon in Gemini sets the tone for the next couple of weeks. Gemini stimulates social engagement – filled with curiosity, friendliness and increased communication. During Full Moon the energies can also intensify. In this case – we can feel pulled between attending to many mundane details – and needing to look at the bigger picture to get an overview of our lives, our aspirations, our dreams.

Mercury is still in Sagittarius until December 25 – encouraging straightforward communication and also inviting us to enlarge our perspectives. It’s time to rise above pettiness and focus on what really gives our lives meaning and purpose. Now’s the time to allow our minds to be creative without needing certainty. From the 25th onward and into the New Year, Mercury will move into the sign of Capricorn, helping us pay attention to what needs to be done and when.
Venus continues her journey through Capricorn until early March, 2014. This encourages us to review the importance of our relationships – to deepen our commitments where possible – and to let go of the superficial.

Today, Uranus makes a “station” – indicating the retrograde period is over and tomorrow, Uranus moves ahead again. This time is very significant. Whatever we’ve been creatively thinking about and visioning now can move forward. It’s timely to share your inspiration and intuitive understanding. Get started and be open to collaboration.

The good news is that innovation is on the rise. New inventions are being created all over the world. For example – The Blest Machine, created by Japanese inventor Akinori Ito, produces one litre of oil for every kilogram of plastic waste.

This recycling technology is spreading all over the world. People in Northern Canada, for example, have been using this technology with great results.

Let’s put our creative energies, desires and insights into action. Let’s make 2014 a year where new ways of thinking and creative solutions accelerate our progress – moving toward more sustainable personal lifestyles and more community engagement – while keeping a global perspective.

In 2014 the dynamic “Grand Cross” between 4 major planets – Mars, Jupiter, Uranus and Pluto – will occur several times between January and June. Mars in Libra will be opposite Uranus in Aries – highlighting the tension between taking individual action and working as a team. The other side of this Cross involves Jupiter opposite Pluto – which can increase the breakdown of systems. Jupiter can also bring needed optimism into this pattern – with appreciation for what is emerging!

This dynamic affects all of us – in various areas of our lives – depending on where this Cross falls in our birth charts. This major configuration also affects nations, global weather patterns and international affairs. More will be written about this in the New Year.
We’re quickly moving toward Winter Solstice – coming on December 21 – the longest night/shortest day of the year. At this turning, the light welcomes us, as we move into a new seasonal cycle. Many rituals and traditions have been created to welcome the Sun back. The coming of the new light is also a metaphor for igniting clarity, love and compassion to take into the New Year.

We all experience “easy” and “difficult” cycles in our lives. Having an Astrology reading is very practical and useful. It helps us plan ahead and guides us along our way.

Astrology helps to clarify the nature of our struggles and the nature of our gifts . What are our strengths and where do we get stuck? What are the timings for each cycle? Deeper self-knowledge is vital for developing acceptance and compassion for ourselves and others. Astrology helps us remember that the challenges we face are cyclical – and it highlights opportunities where we can learn and grow.
