NEW MOON in LIBRA – October 4, 2013

NEW MOON in LIBRA – October 4, 2013 – 8:30 pm EDT

Expect the unexpected. This New Moon and Sun in Libra, are configured stressfully with Pluto and Uranus. Order can turn into chaos, communications can be stalled, systems can break down. Witness the chaos in the US as an example.

Where Libra is usually associated with diplomacy, it’s entering a highly charged planetary mixture. Uranus in Aries is more concerned with the individual than the group – and Pluto in Capricorn highlights where structures are weak and may collapse.

What to do? How to be? Especially on the 4th and 5th – stay “cool” – remember to breathe and stay grounded. Know that Uranus is bringing in a breath of fresh air, breaking through and bringing light, calling for innovative solutions to pressing challenges.

URANUS square PLUTO

These two giants have been in conflict since July 2011 and will make their next exact square on Nov. 1. The tension is building. Uranus in Aries stimulates impatience, flammability, acting without concern for consequences, and interest in individuals not groups. Hello – US Congress! Uranus breaks down existing structures and also brings ingenuity and brilliance to stimulate new solutions to major issues.

Where in your life have you found yourself frustrated with doing things the same old way? Where are you unsatisfied by the same old answers? Pluto in Capricorn digs deeply into foundational issues – revealing weakness and frustration. Inside that discontent, the spark of Uranus can inspire change and quickly set you on a new path.

The last time Pluto and Uranus were in a stressful configuration was from 1965-67. People protested in the streets for civil rights and against the Viet Nam war. New music and art flourished. Remarkable things were accomplished. Imagine now, that the energy of breakdown and breakthrough – is 100 times stronger!

With our world-wide web – there’s less and less secrecy. We witness, first hand, breaking news from all over the world. We’re in the growing pains of becoming a Global community. Astrology offers a way to understand these dynamics – as part of a cycle of growth.

MERCURY in SCORPIO – September 30 – December 6, 2013

Mercury, Planet of communication and travel – will be in Scorpio for over two months. Mercury will go retrograde on October 21 and turn direct on November 10 as it completes its journey through Scorpio on December 6. Scorpio brings depth to this mercurial energy – it’s excellent for research and also for introspection. Especially during this retrograde period – use the opportunity to slow down and review matters that are important to you. Be patient when listening to others and not so concerned with the “bottom line.” Scorpio loves the bottom line! Resist interrupting and commit to listening deeply. It will be time well spent with friends and family.

To summarize: This lunar cycle begins with tumultuous energies – affecting the Moon and Sun – so the tendency can be to take things personally and get easily embroiled in having your buttons pushed. Its temporary. You’ll be wise to remember that you may be extra sensitive right now. Since we’re all in this together, kindness will go a long way. Compassion is vital – for ourselves, for those we love and for those we haven’t yet met.

The POWER and VALUE of ASTROLOGY

“The power of the natal chart comes from the richness of information that we can derive from it.” (Jeff Jawer). We all experience easy and difficult cycles in our lives. Astrology helps to clarify the nature of our struggles and our blessings. What are our strengths and where do we get stuck? What are the timings for each cycle? Deeper self-knowledge is vital for developing compassion for ourselves and others. Astrology helps us remember that whatever challenges we face are cyclical and it highlights opportunities where we can grow.
