New Moon in Pisces – Saturday, March 1, 2014 – 3:00 am EST

The New Moon brings the energy of new beginnings. We’re coming into a very special energy pattern with this New Moon in Pisces, the last sign in the Zodiac year. With SUN and Moon in Pisces – we are starting this Lunar cycle with heightened sensitivity. In order to benefit from this energy – we need to quieten down our inner static and listen to the signal rather than the noise.

Pisces brings the energy of the dreamer, the mystic. We can be feeling vulnerable right now – with our energy bodies open to external stimuli – from other people, from watching the news, from taking on someone else’s burden. Neptune, ruler of Pisces, is quite close to this New Moon, and further sensitizes us. This is an unique opportunity to be open to subtle energies. It’s important to be quiet in order to listen for the inner directives, without expectation.

Now is not the time to sign contracts, do taxes or make specific plans. Neptune’s energy can bring confusion, doubts, delusions – if we to go against this current. A good way to be with this energy this weekend, is to take some time to relax, listen to music, go for a walk. It’s a time for allowing visions to come through regarding next steps to take in our lives. Neptune-ruled Pisces brings out our intuitive capacity and lets us listen to our inner voice.

Mercury is making a station (seemingly “standing still”) on Feb. 28 and will begin to move forward in early March – in the sign of Aquarius. These past 3 weeks of Mercury retrograde have been full of incidences of computer malfunctions and other technical difficulties. This will now clear up as the pace quickens.

We continue to deal with retrograde energies as Mars goes retrograde through Libra from March 1 – May 20. Normally, Mars brings the energy of the initiator – taking action and moving things forward. However during this retrograde period in Libra, Martian energies are “slowed down.” This can be a frustrating time, because things may not advance as we expect. There may be much impatience with the slow (if any) progress toward creating new governments, holding fair elections, or coming to peaceful accords.

In our personal lives – we may feel frustrated and impatient – with delays, plans needing to be changed, projects put on hold, etc. It is helpful to work with this energy rather than resist it. It’s best to cultivate patience as the timing may not be ripe for major movement. This period is well-spent researching and reviewing plans and goals to be ready for the energy shift in late May, when Mars moves forward again.

The Grand Cross between Pluto, Uranus, Jupiter and Mars will be exact (for the 5th time) on April 20 – this pattern is building right now – and will dissipate by mid- May. World events are still in major upheaval. Old corrupt systems are being challenged. Some systems are collapsing without new structures in place. At the same time, many creative breakthroughs are occurring – in technology, science, the arts, medicine, the environment and so on.

In our personal lives – we are being challenged to be more creative, to focus on solutions rather than simply dwelling on the problems we are facing. Pisces is the sign of selfless service. Let’s enjoy the act of being of service and focus on giving. It helps to remind ourselves what we are thankful for and express our gratitude!

Understanding our birth charts helps to clarify the nature of our struggles and the nature of our gifts . What are our strengths and where do we get stuck? What are the timings for each planetary cycle? Deeper self-knowledge is vital for developing acceptance and compassion for ourselves and others. Astrology helps us remember that the challenges we face are cyclical – and it highlights opportunities where we can learn and grow.
